AllMyThings Privacy Policy
Effective date: 4 May 2026 Last updated: 14 September 2026
1. Introduction
AllMyThings (the “App”) is a home inventory application. We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) explains how we collect, use, store, share and protect your personal information, and what rights you have.
Core principles:
- Data is stored on your own device first. We do not run our own servers for storing your item data;
- On-device AI recognition happens entirely on your device. Images never leave it;
- We do not sell your personal information, nor use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Please read this Policy carefully before you download, install or use the App.
2. Information We Collect and Process
2.1 Information you provide
| Type | Details | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Item information | Name, category, quantity, specification, price, expiry date, warranty period, storage location, notes, photos | Entered by you manually, or confirmed after AI recognition |
| Location information | Location names, hierarchy, cover images | Created by you manually |
| Shopping list | Item names, quantities, status | Entered by you manually, or created via the AI assistant |
| Records | Maintenance records, usage records, activity logs | Generated as you use the App |
| AI assistant content | Conversation content, assistant name and avatar, personality and preference settings | Conversation history is stored locally on your device |
| Feedback | Content you submit by email or through in-app feedback | Email feedback includes device model, OS version and app version so we can diagnose the issue; you send this information voluntarily |
The App does not require an in-app account. We do not ask for your name, phone number or Apple ID password.
2.2 Information generated as you use the App
The following is stored only on your device and is never uploaded to us:
- Usage counters: your monthly usage of on-device recognition, cloud recognition and AI assistant conversations (used to enforce free allowances);
- Recent locations: so you can quickly pick a location you use often;
- App settings: language, appearance, notification toggles, sync toggle, AI channel selection and so on.
We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, user-profiling or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA) and do not track you across apps or websites.
2.3 App permissions
The App requests permissions only when you actively use the relevant feature. You can revoke them at any time in iOS Settings:
| Permission | Purpose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Photographing items and location covers | Used to create items and for AI recognition |
| Photos | Choosing images from your library | Only the images you select are read |
| Microphone and speech recognition | Voice input for the AI assistant | Handled by Apple’s system speech recognition service; we do not store your recordings |
| Notifications | Expiry and low-stock alerts | Alerts are generated locally on your device; no data is uploaded |
| Network | Cloud AI recognition, AI assistant, iCloud sync | Connects only when the relevant feature is used |
2.4 Information involved in AI features
- On-device recognition: performed using the on-device model and Apple system vision capabilities. Images and results are processed entirely on your device and never leave it.
- Cloud recognition: when you actively use this feature, a compressed image (long edge reduced to approximately 1024 pixels) and a small amount of text you have entered are sent to a third-party AI service (currently the official DeepSeek API, api.deepseek.com) to perform recognition. The resulting text is returned and stored on your device. We do not store these images on our own servers.
- AI assistant: your conversation content, along with a summary of the necessary data the assistant reads in order to fulfil your request, is sent to a cloud large-language-model service (as above) to generate a reply. Conversation history is stored locally on your device.
- Web lookup: when the assistant needs to look up public information, it sends search keywords to public search services (such as Wikipedia, Baidu Baike, Baidu Search and DuckDuckGo). Please do not enter sensitive information in search requests that you would not want disclosed.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information above only to:
- Provide core features such as item management, location management, reminders and the shopping list;
- Provide AI recognition and AI assistant services (only when you actively use cloud capabilities);
- Sync data across your devices (only when you enable iCloud sync);
- Enforce free allowances and Pro entitlements;
- Respond to your feedback, diagnose problems and improve the product;
- Meet obligations required by law.
We do not use your information for advertising, user profiling or sale to third parties.
4. Storage and Security
4.1 Local storage
- Structured data such as items, locations, lists and records is stored in the App’s database on your device;
- Images (item stickers, location covers, temporary AI recognition images) are stored in the App sandbox. When the device is signed in to iCloud and iCloud is available, images are stored in the App’s iCloud Drive container so that they can sync.
4.2 iCloud sync
- Once sync is enabled, data is stored via Apple CloudKit in the private database of your personal iCloud account (container
iCloud.com.AllMyThings.app); - Data lives in your personal iCloud storage and the developer cannot access its contents;
- You can turn sync off at any time in the App. If you turn it off, or are not signed in to iCloud on the device, data remains on that device only.
4.3 Cloud AI processing
- Cloud recognition and AI assistant requests are sent directly to third-party AI services over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) for inference;
- We do not store your item data, image content or conversation records on our own servers.
4.4 Security measures
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, relying on the iOS sandbox, system encryption and the iCloud account security model. Please note, however, that no technical measure can guarantee absolute security. Keep your device passcode and Apple ID safe, and back up important data regularly using the data export feature.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes. Information is transferred externally only in the following cases:
| Scenario | Recipient | What is transferred |
|---|---|---|
| Using cloud AI recognition | Third-party AI provider (currently the official DeepSeek API) | Compressed image, small amount of text you entered |
| Using the AI assistant | Third-party AI provider (as above) | Conversation content and necessary context summary |
| Assistant web lookup | Public search services (Wikipedia, Baidu Baike, Baidu Search, DuckDuckGo) | Search keywords |
| Enabling iCloud sync | Apple (iCloud / CloudKit) | Your app data (held in your personal iCloud account) |
| Purchasing a subscription | Apple (App Store / StoreKit) | Payment information is handled by Apple under its own privacy policy |
| Legal requirements | Judicial or regulatory authorities | Within the scope required by law |
Other than in the cases above, we will not disclose your personal information to any third party.
6. Data Retention
- Your data is retained on your device and in your iCloud account, under your own control, until you choose to delete it;
- Deleting items or locations, or clearing data in the App, deletes the corresponding records;
- Uninstalling the App deletes local data on the device. To delete data in iCloud, go to iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage and delete the App’s data;
- We do not retain your item data on the server side long-term. Information you voluntarily provide by email is used only to resolve that issue and is deleted within a reasonable period after it is resolved.
7. Your Rights
- Access: you can view all data you have entered in the App at any time;
- Export: you can export item data as an Excel file via Settings → Data Export;
- Deletion: you can delete individual records or clear all data in the App. To delete data already synced to iCloud, delete the App’s iCloud data in iOS Settings;
- Withdraw consent: you can turn off iCloud sync at any time, stop using cloud AI features, revoke camera / photos / microphone / notification permissions in iOS Settings, or simply uninstall the App.
8. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a guardian and find that a child has used the App without your consent, please contact us as described in section 10 and we will help.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will publish the changes and the update date on this page and in the App. For material changes we will provide more prominent notice. Continuing to use the App after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
10. Contact
If you have any questions, comments or complaints about this Policy, or wish to exercise the rights described above, you can reach us at:
- Email: zhongliujian@gmail.com
- In the App: Settings → About → Feedback
We will respond as quickly as we can.
